Dreams come true in Wood County Fair ring for those with developmental disabilities
BOWLING GREEN — Rabbit, sheep, or goat? That was Sammy Sisco’s dilemma as she entered the practice area of the 2024 Ring of Dreams at the Wood County fairgrounds on West Poe Road. This was the first time she would show an animal, and the 18-year-old who has Down syndrome selected the goat. The sheep was too loud and the rabbit needed a lot of hands-on work, said mom Emily Sisco of Bowling Green. The Ring of Dreams is an opportunity for individuals with developmental disabilities to show an animal at the Wood County Fair. Last Tuesday was a practice run for the 53 participants and 45 mentors. The main show is set for 5:30 p.m. Aug. 1 in the Pratt Pavilion.

In a shocking turn of events, Carl “Butch” Hoopingarner was given a term ranging from 20 years to life in prison for a crime that occurred more than thirty years ago, according to True Crime News. The case centers on James Bradley’s sad 1990 death which was first determined to be an accident caused by an automobile fire. But according to fresh information discovered by Ohio’s Guernsey County authorities Bradley’s tragic death was caused by a purposefully started fire. The fact that Bradley’s case was reopened in 2021 was a direct result of Butch Hoopingarner’s recent suspicion after another sad incident in Limon, Colorado. Butch Hoopingarner was implicated in the death of his roommate 64-year-old Everett Kerr after a welfare check uncovered Kerr’s lifeless body there. An altercation between the two men reportedly escalated resulting in Kerr’s tragic demise. Authorities tracked Butch Hoopingarner to Buffalo, Ohio where they discovered the vehicle of his deceased roommate Everett Kerr concealed on a property. The discovery led to a tense standoff that ended with Butch Hoopingarner surrendering to law enforcement.

CLEVELAND — Drivers on Interstate 90 in Cuyahoga County better get ready to buckle up. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced Tuesday that the stretch of I-90 between East 55th and East 260th has been designated as the state's first "Speed and Seat Belt Safety Corridor." This means an increased number of state troopers and police officers will be monitoring the road for offenders, with the Ohio State Highway Patrol as well as the Cleveland, Euclid, and Bratenahl police departments all pitching in to help.
