Former officer sentenced in death of Eau Claire man
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - A former Superior police was sentenced today following a drunk driving incident that killed an Eau Claire man and his baby in 2022. Court documents show that on July 17, 44-year-old Gregory Swanson was sentenced to five years in prison and five years extended supervision for each of two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. These sentences are to be served concurrently.

Jury Convicts Eau Claire Man Of Wire Fraud
An Eau Claire, Wisconsin, man has been convicted of wire fraud and attempting to commit wire fraud. Robert Carter, 45, was convicted following a two-day trial in federal court in Madison. The jury reached a verdict today after just over an hour of deliberation. The guilty verdict is announced by Timothy M. O’Shea, United States Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin.

Van Orden says he was assaulted outside of RNC
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Wisconsin Congressman Derrick Van Orden is accusing a protester of assaulting him in downtown Milwaukee. Van Orden posting on “X” Tuesday (7/16/24) evening, quote, “While standing in line to enter an event at the RNC today I was assaulted by what appeared to be a member of the Pro-Hamas group Codepink. A nearby police officer witnessed this assault and I understand they have been arrested.”
