Mother-son duo arrested for breaking into apartment, beating man with tire iron
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — A Bedford man and his mother are in jail for allegedly kicking down a door to a man’s Bloomington apartment and beating him with a tire iron. Phillip Magness Jr., 38, of Bedford and Jamie Staten, 56, of Farmersburg, both face charges of burglary with a deadly weapon (a Level 2 felony), battery with a deadly weapon (a level 5 felony), possession of meth (a level 6 felony), and criminal mischief (a class B misdemeanor).

Ivy Tech is offering free Certified Clinical Medical Assisting training in Bedford
BEDFORD – Ivy Tech Community College’s Bloomington campus is offering a free Certified Clinical Medical Assisting (CCMA) training course. The 16-week class will be held July 23 through October 31 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the North Lawrence Career Center in Bedford. A grant from IU Health will pay for the training course and certification exam.
