Robert Mooney was the first head coach, in 1977, followed by Rich Faller a year later and Carol Hosbach for two seasons (1979-1980).

In 1981, Ellen Reiner would begin a solid 11-year run as the program's head coach. In 1982, Bloomfield had its first winning season (10-8). In 1983 and 1984, Bloomfield would win back-to-back league championships.

Reiner would win 101 games as a head coach, before she stepped down after the 1991 campaign. Steve Fenton followed, and he coached the squad for 13 seasons (1992-2004)  Among the high points of Fenton's run was a 3-season span, as the Bengals were a combined 54-17, from 1997-1999. The '98 squad finished 20-5 and won the Essex County Tournament championship. The following year, Bloomfield finished 23-4 and won the Group 4 championship.

Fenton would later lead Bloomfield to a league title in 2001 and a pair of state tournament appearances. Fenton won 155 matches as the program's head coach.

In 2005, current head coach Louis Stevens took over as both the girls and boys head coach. The 2008 girls team would win 20 matches and finished as the county runner up. In 2014 and 2015, the Bengals were a combined 44-11 and won a pair of Super Essex Conference Liberty Division titles.

In 2017, Bloomfield would win another league title and Melissa Marte would register 500 career kills.

Stevens has won over 500 combined matches in both girls and boys volleyball, as a new girls season nears this fall. Stevens had taken a year's leave of absence as the girls coach, last fall, so he could watch his daughter play her senior year of volleyball. He's back at the helm this fall, and is hopeful his team can continue a successful run.
