14 cameras are busting speeders on several roads in New York State this week. The radar was installed as part of legislation, signed into law in September 2022. A number of tri-state area residents reported feeling a shaking or hearing a loud boom Tuesday morning leading to quite the mystery. NASA is estimating a meteor passed through the area between 10 a.m. and noon and would account for people saying they saw a fireball in the sky. NASA said simultaneous military activity in the area may account the shaking or boom residents felt.

Thousands without power across Rochester area due to thunderstorms
Thousands of homes and businesses in the Rochester area are without power as thunderstorms continue to sweep across the area. RG&E is asking people on the west side of Canandaigua Lake to reduce their energy use until 9 p.m. Tuesday by turning off air conditioners and other non-essential appliances. The utility said, due to extensive pole damage, it will have to create an outage disrupting service into Wednesday night if usage is not reduced.
