    Firemen’s tournament caps off 66th edition in style

    The 66th annual Bloomington Firemen’s Softball Tournament once again saw 67 teams converge on the softball fields around Valley View Park starting July 18 before wrapping up with championship trophies July 21.

    Tourney weekend began with the annual Guns versus Hoses game, followed by the All-Stars game at Red Haddox Field at Toro Grandstand.

    Bloomington Police dominated Bloomington Fire to retain a traveling trophy between the emergency services in Bloomington following each softball and hockey game. BPD won the game 24-3.

    Between Thursday and Sunday, the unofficial city-wide get-together didn’t disappoint. Proceeds from concessions went toward several youth organizations, including Kennedy Choirs.

    Thunderstorms delayed Sunday’s action. In the end, All American/JEC/Kevitt/Dbl3z Sports won the Men’s Tier I ahead of Tharaldson 19-14 in the final after a 31-20 win to force a winner-take-all final. Tharaldson won the winner’s bracket final 19-18 to reach the final, while All American beat Ductech/Coors Light 33-31 in the elimination game final.

    Men’s D bracket came down to Next Generation (Bloomington) defeating MN Kraken (Burnsville) 19-10.

    Men’s E bracket found Summit Water Solutions (Shakopee) defeating Homestead Tire/Berserk (Austin) 10-0 after winning 10-8 in the first of two games on Sunday.

    Men’s Over 40 Wood Bat saw JLS/DSA (St. Francis) defeat Autism Avengers (Maple Plain) 21-13 in the final on Saturday.

    The Co-Ed division championship came down to two Bloomington teams, with Two Creeks defeating Sports Page 11-8 in the final.

    In the Women’s Open division, Tree Frogs (Mahtomedi) beat On Point (Elkhorn, Nebraska) 10-1 in the final.

    Women’s D/E bracket came down to MN Anarchy (Brooklyn Center) defeated Tix in Chix (Burnsville) 11-4 after the roles were reversed in the previous game, with Tix winning 18-7.
