Suspicious suitcase found at Bloomsburg Uni-Mart

Bloomsburg, Pa. — A suspicious suitcase at a gas station caused a stir this week in Bloomsburg.

On July 30, around 5:27 a.m., police were called to Uni-Mart at 417 Lightstreet Rd. to investigate a report of a suspicious suitcase. A metal suitcase with orange tape was located next to the gas pumps, according to a release from the Bloomsburg Police Department.

Police requested the Geisinger security K9 to check whether the suitcase contained a bomb or other dangerous material. Sections of Lightstreet Road and Penn Street were both closed until the K9 arrived at the scene, according to Bloomsburg PD.

The K9 did not detect the presence of anything dangerous and the scene was cleared around 7:00 a.m., according to police.
