Nipro Medical Corp. to build $398M North Carolina plant
Medical device maker Nipro Medical Corp. is building a $397.8 million facility in Greenville, North Carolina, Gov. Roy Cooper stated in a July 17 press release. The 550,000-square-foot plant will create 232 jobs and produce dialyzers and precision needles for the healthcare industry that support people with diabetes, chronic kidney disease and other renal health issues, according to Nipro.

Weyerhaeuser halts New Bern sawmill operations
Weyerhaeuser is halting operations indefinitely at its New Bern sawmill in North Carolina. The North Carolina Commerce department received a WARN notice on July 18 stating that "there will be a total closure of the New Bern Lumber Mill facility located at 1482 Weyerhaeuser Road in Vanceboro, North Carolina by September 16, 2024. Grimesland man charged with statutory rape; victim's mother charged as accessory
A Grimesland man has been charged with sex crimes alleged by a child in his care and the victim's mother was also charged for failing to report the abuse at the pair's home.
