Wewahitchka Lifter Making Plans to Head to Ecuador for Pan Am Youth Games
PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) -Wewahitchka High School sophomore Mckenzie Hatcher began her weightlifting journey just 5 years ago and she’s already a member of the USA’s Youth Pan American team. ”I started lifting when I was in 7th grade and I had no idea that I would ever be this good.” says the 15 year old lifter. Just a couple weeks ago, Mckenzie won Silver for snatch and Bronze for clean and jerk while securing Bronze for the total in her weight class at USAW Nationals. That performance had her hopeful for a spot in the Pan Ams but she had to wait two and a half weeks until she finally got the confirmation. “It was just kind of like a breath of fresh air that I finally got, like, confirmation that I did that which is super cool. It’s a really cool feeling for sure. Like, it’s been my dream for a while now. It makes me feel very proud of myself that I finally have done something this cool. I’m definitely a little nervous because I usually just kind of stay where I am. I’m not really like a traveler really, but I’m kind of excited to see some new places.”

Wet Wednesday and Thursday but a pattern change is on the way
Panama City Fla. (WMBB) – Rain chances are on the rise again for the middle of the week. A weak system will help add a bit of lift to the panhandle atmosphere. The result will be more widespread showers and storms. I’m still not expecting a wash-out all-day rain but a good chance of the day being a bit wetter than dry on Wednesday and could be repeated on Thursday. Friday and into the weekend will will still hold onto rain chances but they will return to around the normal chance for this time of year. The Atlantic high will build west allowing for more sinking air over the southeast, while it won’t get rid of all the rain it will be a more dry and probably hotter pattern. The tropics remain inactive but with a pattern change coming we will likely start to see changes in the tropics as well. I think by the second week of August we will see changes in the tropics. Right now nothing to worry about out there.
