The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 23 points or more this season.

Caldwell County continues to recover from Hurricane Helene with many places returning to normal operations. Debris removal started on Monday in southern Caldwell County. Crews will work from south to north and make three passes around the county. Removal will continue through November 22. Debris should be separated into three piles, vegetation, construction debris, and items like furniture, hot water heaters. ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. — The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine is deploying a mobile medical unit to help pets affected by Helene in Carter County. The college's mobile veterinary clinic will be at the Tractor Supply at 210 Cherokee Park Drive in Elizabethton between Oct. 9 and Oct. 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. UT said the clinic will close for a break daily for 30 minutes at 1 p.m.

FRENCH BROAD EMC – (10/9 update) Tuesday we made more progress in Yancey and Mitchell counties towards getting everyone’s power back on. In Burnsville, we were able to energize lines in white oak (South Toe), upper pig pen, Altapass, and lower Browns Creek. We are still working in Blue Rock/Crabtree, Humpback Mountain/Tempie Mountain, Cane River/Little Creek/Big Creek/Murphytown, the Lower End of Jacks Creeek, Lower End of Bald Mountain, Pensacola/Cattail/Cane River Gap,Lower Doe Bag, and Mountain Air. In Mitchell County, we energized three phase feeders along NC 80 to Bandana and the Big Rock Creek / Glen Ayre feeder all the way to the end. We worked on several single phase lines in White Oak, McKinney Cove, Sailors Lake, Red Hill, Fork Mountain, and all around the town of Bakersville. Tomorrow we will continue to work on tap lines in all of these areas and continue to cut out the fallen trees in Tipton Hill and towards Buladean. We still have 3-4 weeks worth of work at least. I was able to travel to Red Hill and down NC 197 tonight for the first time since the storm. The water must have been 8-10 feet above the road in places. Nothing is left including any of our power lines. We will be starting from scratch in many areas like Popular and Relief. Same for the Buladean community due to the wind damage. We did get the fiber cable to Bakersville and the Locust Knob tower rebuilt, which should help with communications. We still have thousands without power, some of them still employees and their families. Our folks are still pushing through in order to make sure we get as much done as possible each day. I was able to visit one of our Marshall crews working in Mitchell County today. They rebuilt an entire line in one day and wouldn’t leave until it was energized late tonight. I can’t say it enough how proud I am of our guys and their dedication to the job.
