A portion of the house near the western bluff of the Rapidan Dam has collapsed into the Blue Earth River after a partial failure of the dam.

Footage of the home was falling into the river was captured just before 10 p.m. Tuesday night as waters breaking around the Rapidan Dam eroded the earth underneath the residence.

The Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office announced on Monday morning that the Rapidan Dam was in an 'imminent failure condition,' after a flurry of rainstorms last week caused water levels to rise and cut around the west end of the 475-foot structure. As of Wednesday morning, the dam has continued to remain intact while water flows have started to slow.

Blue Earth County Public Works and Emergency Management are continuously monitoring the dam and evaluating the downstream impacts of the home's collapse.

Water which continues to erode the slopes on the west side of the dam peaked on Monday 34,800 cubic feet per second and lowered to 33,000 cubic feet per second Tuesday morning.

Blue Earth County has not issued any mass evacuation plans.
