Our Dane County patio dining guide features 550 options
As Madison begins to (hopefully) dry out after a very rainy June, note that this year’s patio map includes many locations with excellent rain coverage. “I did want to include places like Butterbird, which has a really nice, large, covered area,” said photo director Ruthie Hauge, who collaborated with intern Ashley Rodriguez on the fourth iteration of the Cap Times Patio Guide.
Natural areas hike set for July 6

Things to do in Madison: 'Moulin Rouge,' 'Saw: The Musical' and more
Explosions light up the skies for three nights this week, with around 20 fireworks shows planned across Dane County. On Wednesday, there are at least four shows, including one around 9:30 p.m. after the Madison Mallards baseball game at Warner Park, 2930 Sherman Ave. On Thursday, there are more than a dozen shows from Monona and Stoughton to Milton and Mazonmanie, plus another round at Warner Park after the new softball team, the Madison Night Mares, plays. Want some post-4th action? Head to the “Fire on the River” celebration Friday and Saturday Sauk City’s Riverway, near Water St. and Van Buren St. for fireworks at dusk Saturday.
