NCPD: Suspect Burglarizes Oceanside Vape Shop After Shattering Front Window
The Fourth Squad reports the details of a Burglary that occurred on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 9:00 am in Oceanside. According to Detectives, Fourth Precinct Officers responded to Oceanside Star Bazzar Vape and Cigar Shop, located at 2947 Long Beach Road, for a Commercial Burglary. Upon arrival it was determined that an unknown subject wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants broke the front window and entered the business. Further investigation revealed that an unknown amount of Vapes were removed from the business. The subject fled on foot through the rear of the building.
Town Announces Free $25 Farmers’ Market Coupons for Senior Citizens
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman announce that income-eligible adults aged 60 and over can now receive free $25 coupon booklets from the New York State Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP). These coupons can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at authorized farmers’ markets and farm stands.
Saladino Recognizes Massapequa Graduate for Remarkable Athletic Achievements
Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino and his colleagues on the Town Board honored Lauren O’Brien, a recent Massapequa High School graduate who will attend Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida this Fall, where she will play softball on an athletic scholarship. Lauren and her teammates at Massapequa High School won the Long Island Championship in 2023 and this year, were the Conference 1 Champions for the first time in school history. Lauren, a Centerfielder, was awarded the Nassau County Softball Coaches Association 2024 Player of the Year. She was awarded Conference 1 Player of the Year named to the All-County team. Her spectacular hitting and fielding were key components to her team’s success. Supervisor Saladino congratulated Lauren, presented her with a Town citation and wished her well in the future.

Former Nassau County Fire Service Academy Employee Indicted for Defrauding Workers’ Compensation
Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly announced that a former employee of the Nassau County Fire Service Academy was indicted on Grand Larceny, Falsifying Business Records, and Fraudulent Practices of the Workers’ Compensation Law for fraudulently receiving more than $16,000 of workers’ compensation benefits. The defendant continued to volunteer as a firefighter in Massapequa and maintained other employment cleaning a local church and working at a tax preparation office despite allegedly submitting documentation stating that she was not working while she collected the benefits.
