    Help needed in Mercer County animal cruelty investigation

    BLUEFIELD, WV ( WVNS ) — Officials with the City of Bluefield, West Virginia are asking for the public’s help in relation to an animal cruelty investigation.

    According to a post from the City of Bluefield, WV Facebook page, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, a search warrant was carried out on a home on Giles Street in Bluefield, WV, where multiple emaciated, sick, and injured dogs were taken. There were also multiple sets of remains from dead dogs in the home. Bluefield Animal Control, Mercer County Animal Control, and Bluefield P.D. assisted in the recovery of the animals.

    According to the press release, investigators are trying to locate the homeowners, Timothy Cumbee and Eliza Cumbee. Both Timothy and Eliza are formerly from Giles County and may be currently living in McDowell County.

    An investigation by members of the Bluefield Police Department and Bluefield Animal Control remains active.

    Anyone with any information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of Timothy and Eliza Cumbee is asked to contact the Bluefield Animal Control immediately at (304) 327-2401xt. 2454.
