    City of Bluefield seeks public’s help in animal cruelty case

    BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – The City of Bluefield is requesting the public’s assistance in an active animal cruelty investigation.

    According to the city, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, a search warrant was executed on Giles Street, where multiple severely emaciated, sick, and injured dogs were found.

    Bluefield Animal Control, assisted by Mercer County Animal Control and the Bluefield Police Department, conducted the search and seized the dogs.

    Additionally, the remains of several deceased dogs were discovered inside the residence.

    Authorities are looking for the homeowners, Timothy and Eliza Cumbee, who were formerly of Giles County and may now be residing in McDowell County.

    The investigation is being led by PTLM B. Lambert of the Bluefield Police Department and Bluefield Animal Control Officer N. Shumate.

    Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Timothy and Eliza Cumbee or details relevant to the investigation is urged to contact Bluefield Animal Control at 304-327-2401 ext. 2454.
