Kids get the real deal with Lunch and Legos at Craft Memorial Library

BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) – Craft Memorial Library hosted a Lunch and Legos event for local children on Friday, July 19, 2024.

Kids were able to craft whatever their hearts desired with the Legos at the library. Some of these creative Lego creations included a beach, a dog boat, and a police chase.

The library workers even served the kids pizza afterwards.

Some kids were most thrilled for the pizza and others were all about the Legos, but all the kids seemed to have a good time.

This Lunch and Legos event was part of the library’s summer reading program. It was also inspired by their Lego club that meets every Monday throughout the summer.

Library Program Services Coordinator, Suzette Sims said this Lego event provides a variety of positive outcomes.

“Legos teach problem solving, how to build things, it makes them use their imagination,” said Sims.

Their summer reading program offers a lot more than Lego-building. In fact, they have different programs for each day.

On Mondays, they have teen book club and Legos. Tuesdays are for elementary aged cooking class and story time. Thursdays are similar to Tuesdays, except the cooking classes on those days are for preschoolers.

There are also plenty of special events like Adventure in Music and Adventures in Nature.

Preregistration was required for this free event.
