Woman describes being swung like a rag doll and violently attacked

BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A woman describes being swung around like a rag doll and beaten by her boyfriend after she allegedly had a conversation with an older man at her work.

On July 14, 2024, CPL Lacy, Deputy Brooks, and Deputy A.M. Presley responded to a report of a domestic disturbance on Green Valley Road in the Bluefield area of Mercer County, West Virginia.

Mercer 911 received a call from the victim’s daughter, who reported that her mother’s boyfriend was physically assaulting her. Upon arrival, deputies could hear a man’s voice yelling from inside the residence. When they knocked on the door, a female opened the door, holding her arm, and collapsed in the doorway.

This female was later identified as the victim. The male voice I heard was coming from the kitchen. State Police units assisted in helping the victim outside. The male, who identified himself as Austin Fulp, was brought outside to separate the two individuals.

At that moment, the victim’s daughter arrived and was visibly upset, shouting that Fulp had beaten her mother. All parties were kept apart during the incident. The daughter introduced herself and provided a written statement detailing the events, which stated, “(Her mother) sent me a text saying he was, then I got a call later where she was begging him to stop hitting her, and I called 911 because she couldn’t.”

The daughter mentioned that she heard Fulp striking her while on the phone with her mother. The victim explained that she and Fulp were in the garage when he became angry over a conversation with an older man at her workplace.

The victim recounted that Fulp grabbed her by the hair, pulled her up the steps, and swung her around like a rag doll. She reported that he struck her on the right side of her body and slammed her against the walls inside the house.

The victim managed to call her daughter, hiding her phone in her pants to keep it concealed from Fulp. She also stated that Fulp threatened to kill her and the police if they arrived. The victim was subsequently transported to PCH for her injuries.

During a follow-up at PCH, they observed bruises and red marks on the victim’s arms, legs, and neck. Austin Fulp has been charged with Domestic Battery and Domestic Assault, first offense.
