KBI investigating an officer-involved shooting that led to the death of one man
Coffeyville, KS – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting Thursday afternoon. Coffeyville police were attempting to serve a search warrant on 33-year-old Derik J. Trotter of Coffeyville. Trotter began to resist and fought officers as they tried to detain him. Trotter was tased by officers before being shot 3 times, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. No law enforcement officers were injured in the shooting. The KBI will investigate this officer-involved shooting and submit its findings will be presented to the Montgomery County Attorney for review.
