9,000 Bend Pacific Power customers losing power Tuesday night
More than 9,000 Pacific Power customers in Bend will be losing power for about an hour Tuesday night. Affected customers -- 9,269 -- were sent an alert saying the disruption, set for 10:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., is due to emergency repairs. It will require switching transformers at the Cleveland substation.
Mule deer doe killed, left to waste in Jefferson County
Oregon State Police are asking for the public's help to find whoever was behind the illegal take and waste of a mule deer doe in Jefferson County. OSP Fish and Wildlife said the doe was found in the area of NW Hart Street in Madras on June 13 after it was shot with an arrow. The doe likely had been killed the same day and left to waste. The specific location where it was shot is unknown, OSP said.

EAGLE POINT, Ore — Community members of Butte Crest mobile home park rallied together to save homes and cars after high winds led to tree damage. A resident at the mobile home park, Connie Fuller, said that there “must have been angels” because her home and car were close to being directly hit by a tree. Fatal Crash on Highway 101 in Curry County
On Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 11:40 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 101, near milepost 298, in Curry County. The preliminary investigation indicated a southbound Ford F250, operated by James Franklin Mickelson (36) of Sixes, left the roadway for unknown reasons, traveled approximately 400 feet through a field, and struck a tree. The collision caused the vehicle to become engulfed in flames. The operator of the vehicle (Mickelson) and passengers, Joseph Frances Kurka (20) of Sixes and Dereck Eugene Stroop (35) of Port Orford, were all declared deceased at the scene. The highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation. The cause of the crash is under investigation. OSP was assisted by the Port Orford Fire Department, Sixes Fire, Coos Forest Patrol, Coos Fire, the Curry County Sheriff's Office, and ODOT.
