An 18-year-old from Riverside County was arrested in connection with the murder of two men in the city of Blythe, deputies say.

According to a media release issued by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, officers with the Blythe Police Department requested deputies’ assistance after they found two crime scenes connected to the double homicide that occurred Monday at 8:12 p.m.

The first scene was in the 500 block of East Avenue A, where the victims were found in a business parking lot, and a secondary crime scene was located not far away in the 900 block of East Avenue B.

The area was closed to all foot and vehicle traffic in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, RSO added.

The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, deputies stated.  They were identified as Blythe residents Audelio Solorio, 45, and Deveon Keyshawn Smith, 27.

Detectives from RSO’s Colorado River Station and the Central Homicide unit assumed the investigation and quickly identified the suspect as 18-year-old Jose Angel Manjarrez, also of Blythe.

He was arrested and booked into the Blythe Jail on two counts of first-degree murder.  Inmate search records indicate he is being held on $1 million bail.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Thursday at 8 a.m. at the Blythe Court.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to contact Central Homicide Unit Investigator Munoz by calling 951-955-2777 or Colorado River Station Investigator Morlock by calling 760-921-7900.
