BMW Motorsport is exploring the possibility of incorporating hydrogen technology into its motorsport endeavors, but with a twist. While the concept of hydrogen racing is gaining traction, BMW takes a firm stance on using fuel cell technology instead of hydrogen combustion engines. According to Sportscar365, Franciscus van Meel, CEO of...

BMW’s push towards full electrification will become even more prominent starting in 2025. We’ve already heard about the next-generation BMW X3 going electric, but now, sources have revealed more details. Insiders now state that the BMW iX7 lineup will also launch in 2027, featuring a series of different models: iX7 50, iX7 60 and iX7 M70.
BMW Concept Skytop Stuns at 2024 Concorso d’Eleganza
BMW took the 2024 Concorso d’Eleganza by storm unveiled a stunning concept which might head for production. The BMW Concept Skytop builds upon the 8 Series chassis , combining retro and modern design elements to form an attractive package. The BMW Concept Skytop features a flowing, sporty elegance that pays homage to classic models like the BMW 503 and BMW Z8. Its exterior is defined by muscular, taut surfaces, precise lines, and unique design elements such as winglets integrated into the door shoulders, replacing conventional door handles. The prominent, sweeping hood features a splint which can be seen on the trunk as well. The iconic BMW shark-nose design comes with an illuminated kidney grille and it’s small in size.
2024 BMW XM Discounts Reach $17,500
With a polarizing design and a hefty asking price, the XM was never going to fly off the shelves. We can only imagine BMW saw this coming, so hearing news about discounts isn’t all too surprising. Cars Direct reports there are deals to be had if you want to own the M division’s first plug-in hybrid. The 2024 XM is up to $17,500 off, according to a bulletin sent to dealers earlier this week.
The New BMW 1 Series Costs €70,000 With All Options
Having seen the new BMW 1 Series in its most basic form, it’s only natural to take a good look at the fully loaded version. The German configurator went live shortly after the F70 made its official debut, and yes, you can go crazy with the options. We’ve managed to add roughly €14,000 worth of extras on top of the flagship version, the M135.
BMW Skytop Morphs From Targa To Stunning Coupe In Rendering
BMW says the Skytop is a definite maybe since it needs more time to decide whether to build it or not. Meanwhile, a design exercise imagines the concept car as an equally gorgeous coupe by replacing the two removable targa panels with a fixed top. Independent artist Theottle has imagined the M8 Convertible-based showcar we saw at Villa d’Este as a retro-modern M8 Coupe.
BMW Vision ConnectedDrive Concept from 2011 Makes a Public Appearance
The BMW Vision ConnectedDrive Concept was displayed at the Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum, recognized as one of the most romantic contemporary art museums in Europe. This museum regularly hosts exhibitions featuring leading contemporary artists from around the world, making it a fitting venue for the display of this innovative vehicle. The BMW Vision ConnectedDrive roadster concept, introduced in 2011, illustrates how a vehicle can become an integral part of its user’s digital world.
BMW iX3M (ZA5), iX4M (ZA7) Likely to Arrive After 2027
BMW and its M division continue to make strides towards an electrified future, with plans to launch at least six electric vehicles on the Neue Klasse platform between 2025 and 2028. Among them, we will see also the first electric M cars: an i3M sedan, i3M Touring, and two crossovers. We reported exclusively in the past that BMW plans an iX3M (ZA5) and iX4M (ZA7) to lead the electric revolution of the M brand. According to an insider from the BimmerPost forums, BMW continue with these plans.
Rumor: BMW i3M Sedan and i3M Touring Moving Forward
In 2023, we discussed BMW’s plans for their first-ever all-electric M3, codenamed ZA0. This electric M3 is progressing towards a production date of 2027-2028. While BMW has not officially confirmed the codename or the model name, they have mentioned an i4 prototype testing the Neue Klasse architecture and a quad-motor setup. Today, we learned (ynguldyn released similar info) that the plans continue to move forward and we will see not only the ZA0 i3M sedan, but also the ZA1 i3M Touring.
2025 BMW 1 Series Design Sketches Show 3-Door Hatch
In a sea of SUVs, it’s easy to forget that BMW used to sell a three-door hatchback. It died roughly five years ago when production of the second-generation 1 Series ended. The F21 was the last of the breed. Official design sketches of the fourth-gen 1er show the less practical, but arguably better-looking body style.
BMW Drops Diesel Engines From The New 1 Series In UK
If you’re getting a sense of déjà vu, it’s totally understandable. BMW UK dropped diesel engines from the 3 Series last week and it’s doing it again with the 1 Series. The F70 won’t be available in the country in the 118d and 120d flavors announced for other European countries. With no plug-in hybrid or electric derivatives available regardless of region, British customers will only get two variants: 120 and M135.
2025 BMW 1 Series Configurator Shows Base Model
It makes sense for an automaker to put its best foot forward at the reveal of a new model. BMW introduced the fourth-generation 1 Series by showing the compact hatchback with M goodies. Not just the M135, but lesser versions with the M Sport Package or the M Sport Design. In case you’re curious how the F70 looks with no optional goodies whatsoever, this is it.
2025 ALPINA B3 GT And B4 GT Debut With More Power
It’s been a little over a year since ALPINA gave the 5 Series Sedan the B5 GT treatment and now the smaller B3 and B4 are following suit. A member of the BMW Group since 2022, the specialty marque used the latest 3 Series Sedan and 4 Series Gran Coupe as the foundation for its refreshed dynamic duo. Well, there are technically three cars since the 3 Series Touring has been upgraded as well.
Photo Comparison: 2025 BMW 1 Series F70 vs. F40
The 2025 BMW 1 Series is the debut of the F70 BMW 1 Series. It’s the fourth generation of the BMW 1 Series, which debuted in the early 2000s. While originally available in coupe, convertible, and hatchback versions, 2014 split the model into the 1 Series and 2 Series—the former for hatchbacks and the latter for coupe and convertible models. In case you missed it, let’s get some big news out of the way first.
BMW Kills The Manual Gearbox In The 1 Series
At the beginning of the year, we talked about BMW still offering the 1 Series with a manual gearbox. However, now that the F40 is gone from the lineup, so is the stick shift. With the fourth-generation model, the company’s entry-level car is an automatic-only affair. Going forward, the F70 will be sold strictly with a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission.
BMW Deletes ‘i’ From The Names Of Its Gasoline 1 Series Models
It started with a wild rumor before a BMW official confirmed it in an interview with BMWBLOG earlier this year. The “i” letter at the end of the names of gas models is gradually being retired. Unveiled today, the 1 Series F70 leads the way, spearheading the significant change to the model designations. At launch, the compact hatchback will be offered in 120 and M135 flavors. That’s right– without the “i” that has historically stood for fuel injection. Two undisclosed additional gasoline models will join the lineup this fall, and those won’t have the “i” either. The “d” is staying, as seen in the 118d and 120d. BMW is also keeping the “e” for plug-in hybrids but the 1 Series still doesn’t have a PHEV option.
2025 BMW 1 Series F70 Officially Revealed With Quirky Grille
It’s quite unusual for BMW to skip a model’s Life Cycle Impulse and jump straight to the next generation. Such is the case with the 2025 BMW 1 Series, with the F70 replacing the F40 that had been around for only about five years. Although it does look like an life cycle impulse model at first glance, the use of a different internal codename means the company considers it a true next-generation car.
2025 BMW M135 Has Dual-Clutch Auto, Two Engine Outputs
Despite an aggressive EV agenda, BMW’s sole hot hatchback sticks around for another generation with gasoline power. Now called the BMW M135 xDrive, the Audi S3 Sportback and AMG A45 rival is based on the new BMW 1 Series (F70). The M Performance model has gone through substantial changes even though it has an evolutionary exterior design.
The BMW Z8 Coupé: A Forgotten Marvel
The year was 1997. Beneath the glittering lights of the Tokyo Motor Show, a legend was born, not as it was destined to be, but as a whisper of pure, unadulterated potential. This was the BMW Z07 Concept, a coupe that would rewrite the rulebook on automotive beauty. The car was a homage to the legendary 507 roadster, a car that epitomized the glamour and speed of a bygone era. The Z07 was its modern heir, a sleek, muscular coupe that wows us decades later. The design, penned by Henrik Fisker, was a masterpiece of flowing lines and subtle curves. The signature element was the double-bubble roof, inspired by Italian design house Zagato, that gave the Z07 an air of otherworldly sophistication. Last week, we had a chance to see the car live for the first time. The 2024 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este gave us the opportunity to explore this car from upclose.
2025 BMW M4 Competition Convertible Facelift Show in Toronto Red
The latest iteration of BMW’s M4 Competition Convertible makes a striking appearance in a vibrant Toronto Red. This facelifted model was introduced to local media by BMW Slovakia. For the 2025 Model Year, the BMW M4 Competition Convertible has undergone a mild transformation, showcasing new lights and interior updates. The most notable changes are seen in the lighting system. The front end now features sharper-looking LED headlights that incorporate a single module for both low and high beams. This new design moves away from the classic “angel eyes” and introduces two arrow-shaped elements that serve as daytime running lights and turn signals. At the rear, the taillights have been enhanced with laser technology, creating a 3D-like effect that adds to the car’s visual drama. This update not only improves aesthetics but also enhances visibility and safety on the road.
