BMW USA Sales in Q2 2024 See a 3.7% Increase
BMW of North America today announced its sales results for the second quarter of 2024, highlighting a notable performance for both the BMW and MINI brands in the United States. In Q2 2024, BMW brand sales in the U.S. totaled 91,237 vehicles, marking a 3.7% increase from the 87,948 vehicles sold in the same period last year. Sebastian Mackensen, President & CEO of BMW of North America, acknowledged the industry-wide challenges but praised the resilience and resourcefulness of BMW dealers. “The past few weeks have been challenging for everyone in the industry; however, I’m pleased to report a positive result for the second quarter,” said Mackensen. “Our dealers have worked hard to manage the situation and set us up for a successful second half of the year.”
2025 BMW M5 (G90): Pros and Cons
The new 2025 BMW M5 has arrived, and some dark, smelly corners of the Internet have already decided that it’s worse in every way. In other words, it’s your standard BMW product launch. While the 2025 BMW M5 is far from perfect, it deserves its due credit, too. Let’s balance the G90 M5’s perceived shortcomings with what it apparently achieves and see where we end up via a helpful pros and cons list.
Video Shows BMW M3 CS Touring In Action At The Nurburgring
BMW has made CS-badged coupes and sedans but never a wagon. That will change in 2025 when the wraps are going to come off a hotter M3 Touring. Meanwhile, the Competition Sport with a long roof has been caught in auction testing hard at the Nürburgring. A new spy video shot at the Green Hell shows the amped-up G81 with glowing brake discs. That’s always a sign the test driver is testing the limits of a prototype.
New BMW 5 Series Touring Gets A Matching Roof Box
The new 5 Series Touring has a cavernous trunk that can swallow up to 570 liters with the rear seats in place. Fold the 40:20:40-split bench and the volume jumps to 1,700 liters. Should you need even more room to haul your stuff, here’s the luxury wagon carrying a BMW-branded roof box. The company’s Slovenian division puts the spotlight on an even more practical G61.
BMW To Decide On Hydrogen Car Production This Year
BMW has been experimenting with hydrogen cars since the late 1970s with the 5 Series E12-based 520h. Other relevant examples have included the 750hL during the E38 era with a brawny V12 but its follow-up is the best-known car – the 760Li E65. It’s also worth mentioning the record-breaking H2R, the obscure Hydrogen i8, and the latest effort – the iX5.
BMW iX Second Generation Unlikely With iX5 Looming Over
BMW has confirmed plans to build at least six electric vehicles in Spartanburg, South Carolina by the end of the decade. Their identities have not been disclosed but logic tells us most (if not all) will be SUVs. One candidate is a purely electric derivative of the next-generation X5. Codenamed G65, the future luxury SUV was spotted yesterday testing for the first time as an EV.
2024 BMW M135 in Alpine White Introduced at the BMW Welt
Just days after its world debut and a week before its public premiere in Goodwood, the 2024 BMW M135 arrives in the heart of Munich. The iconic BMW Welt, known for showcasing a wide range of new and legendary BMW models, now proudly displays the refreshed 1 Series. Painted in Alpine White, the F70 BMW M135 stands out as the pinnacle of the 1 Series lineup. This M Performance model boasts a distinctive grille design, featuring horizontal slats for the kidneys, setting it apart from the rest of the 1 Series range.
BMW M2 Duels Toyota Supra In Drag Race Of Manual Sports Cars
In an increasingly electrified automotive world, the BMW M2 and Toyota Supra are beginning to feel like dinosaurs. Both have inline-six engines that do away with hybridization. In addition, the sports cars have three pedals, which is a rare sight in 2024. The coupes also send power exclusively to the rear wheels, which is increasingly less common as the years go by.
2025 MINI Countryman Electric Stars In New Photo Shoot
After recently giving us a closer look at the diesel and gasoline versions of the Countryman, MINI now puts the spotlight on the EV. Not just any iteration of the electric model, but the more potent SE ALL4. Those suffixes refer to the dual-motor configuration with all-wheel drive. Alternatively, the Oxford-based marque also sells a single-motor variant with front-wheel drive.
2025 BMW 1 Series Hits The Assembly Line
BMW is off to a strong start in July by commencing production of two important models. Aside from starting assembly of the M5 G90, it’s now also making the 1 Series F70 as well. The two vehicles are built at separate plants as the former is made in Dingolfing while the latter comes alive in Leipzig. The first compact hatchback to roll off the line was a lowly 120 finished in Alpine White for a German customer.
2025 BMW M5 G90 Enters Production
Well, that was quick. A few days after its world premiere, the new BMW M5 has already hit the assembly line. The G90 comes to life in Germany at the Dingolfing plant where the super sedan has a long tradition. As early as the 1980s, pre-assembled bodies for the original E28 were made there. After that, the first-gen M5s were hand-finished by BMW M in Garching. Since the E34, the cars have been fully built in Dingolfing.
BMW i5 eDrive40: Real-World Range, Charging Insights, and Driving Impressions
Times are changing, and the BMW 5 Series has to change with them. When the new G60 generation was announced last year, it followed in the footsteps of the larger G70 7 Series. The model line was split between electric and gas powertrains on the same chassis. This strategy helps reduce costs while offering consumers and different markets both forms of propulsion as the entire auto industry transitions towards electrification. So, what is it like living with an electric 5 Series, like the 2025 BMW i5 eDrive40? Is it better for being electric? How does it charge, and how much range can I get in the real world on a full charge? That’s what I’m here to talk about.
24h Spa: BMW M4 GT3 Takes Third Place

At the iconic race, Sheldon van der Linde, Dries Vanthoor, and Charles Weerts secured he third podium spot. This achievement marked a significant milestone for BMW M Team WRT, as it was their first podium at their home race in collaboration with BMW M Motorsport.
BMW Is Below Average In 2024 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study
It’s safe to say that reliability has never been the strong point of luxury cars. J.D. Power’s 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study is a relevant example considering there aren’t any premium brands in the top 4. With 149 problems reported per 100 vehicles, Ram tops the rankings, followed by Chevrolet with 160, Hyundai with 162, and sister brand Kia with 163. Buick rounds off the top 5 as the leader among luxury brands.
BMW Thinks The New M5 Will Sell The Best In The US
The seventh-generation M5 finally debuted this week, sparking immense controversy regarding its worryingly high weight. BMW will start production of the G90 next month in Dingolfing and kick off deliveries in November. If you’re wondering where the M division believes the sports sedan will sell the best, the answer would be in North America and Europe.
One-of-a-Kind 1995 BMW 850CSi For Sale on Bring a Trailer
Vintage, manual BMWs are more in vogue now than ever, and today, you can find what’s perhaps the one to rule them all on the online auction site Bring a Trailer. A minty fresh 1995 850 CSi – #190, according to expert Alec Cartio – has popped up sporting just 22,000 miles, original Hellrot (Bright Red) paint, and all the pop-up headlight, mid-90s goodness you could ask for.
2025 BMW M2 Sao Paulo Yellow Showcases M Performance Parts
If you’ve been wondering what a fully loaded 2025 BMW M2 looks like, this is pretty much it. Granted, it doesn’t have the centerlock wheels but it has all the M Performance Parts you can think of. Yes, that includes the love/hate exhaust with stacked dual tips mounted in the middle of a carbon diffuser. This over-the-top build flaunts a rear wing and even a roof-mounted spoiler.
2025 BMW M3 Gets Rare Frozen Tulum Blue Individual Paint
Frozen Tulum Blue is so rare that you can’t even find it on the dedicated BMW Individual Visualizer website. Codenamed P98, the matte color has been applied onto a 2025 M3 Competition Sedan that’s up on display at the BMW Welt. As if the paint job wasn’t special enough, this facelifted G80 is also brimming with M Performance Parts. It is missing the center-mounted quad exhaust, but maybe that’s for the better since the stacked tips look controversial.
Four-Cylinder Toyota Supra Unexpectedly Axed In The US
You can get a BMW Z4 with a four-pot in the United States but that’s not the case anymore for its Supra coupe equivalent. Unexpectedly, Toyota is pulling the plug on the 2.0-liter engine, a mere three years after introducing the entry-level model. Going forward, the sports car with a fixed metal roof will be offered in the US strictly with the B58 engine.
