2024 BMW 540d: Six-Cylinder Diesel Launches This Summer
BMW is expanding its diesel lineup for the new 5 Series. In addition, to the BMW 520d sedan and BMW 520d xDrive Touring models, which are particularly popular in Europe, a six-cylinder diesel is joining the lineup. In summer 2024, the BMW 540d xDrive Sedan and BMW 540d xDrive Touring will come to Europe.
Photo Comparison: 2025 BMW M3 Facelift vs. Older Model
After a bit of a wait, the G80 and G81 M3 models finally get their Life Cycle Impulse – LCI, or BMW-speak for mid-life-cycle refresh. Most of the changes mirror what we saw in the BMW M4 LCI earlier this year, including horsepower increases. But how much different is it, really, than last year’s model? Here’s a look at how the new 2025 BMW M3 Sedan and Touring facelift models compare to perhaps their staunchest competitors – last year’s models.
2025 BMW M3 Touring Officially Debuts With More Power
After giving the M4 a Life Cycle Impulse in January, BMW applies the LCI treatment on a more practical M. The 2025 M3 Touring gets predictable updates inside and out as well as underneath the hood. The G81 continues to be offered strictly in the Competition flavor with xDrive, so it’s an automatic-only affair. And unfortunately, it’s still not coming to the United States.
2025 BMW M3 Sedan Revealed With Styling, Mechanical Tweaks
BMW is transitioning the M3 Sedan to the 2025 model year by giving it a mild LCI. As you can imagine, the changes follow those already applied to the 2025 M4 Coupe and M4 Convertible. However, there is one glaring omission since the G80 sadly isn’t getting the nifty laser taillights. It does have the redesigned headlights from the two-door models. The front lights bundle the low and high beams into a single module. As for the arrow-shaped LEDs, these double as the daytime running lights and turn signals.
2025 BMW XM Gets New Colors and Upholsteries
BMW is revitalizing its XM lineup with the introduction of new exterior and interior options. Notable additions include 23-inch M light-alloy wheels in a star-spoke design, now offered in a Jet Black finish. The BMW XM Label Red can now be ordered in nine additional exterior paint finishes. These include BMW Individual Isle of Man Green metallic, BMW Individual Sao Paulo Yellow metallic and BMW Individual Dravit Grey metallic. From summer 2024, customers can also enhance the interior of their BMW XM Label Red with options for BMW Individual Merino Leather or BMW Individual Merino Leather with exclusive elements, each available in two color choices.
BMW Recalls X5, X6, X7, XM, ALPINA XB7 For Concerns Regarding Occupant Crash Protection
BMW has issued a recall for 3,256 units of the 2025 model year X5, X6, X7, and the high-performance XM due to noncompliance with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208, which governs occupant crash protection. The recall stems from hall sensors not being installed correctly. Hall-effect sensors play a critical role in ensuring the seatbelt buckle is properly latched. BMW is concerned that these sensors could incorrectly signal that the seatbelt is fastened, thereby compromising the safety belt warning system and the functionality of the supplemental restraint system, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.
The Evolution of Car Reliability: From Classic Confidence to Modern Complexity
Just last night, I was with a group of car enthusiast friends, all of whom own old cars, ranging from a 1957 Auto Union DKW (look it up) to a 1990 Mercedes 190E, plus me in my 1994 E36 BMW 318Ti. We were discussing what the cutoff point is for cars we want to own. Just how new is too new? For all of us, the general consensus is about 2004. That means the last of the E46 generation.
BMW M Hybrid V8 Coming To Le Mans Ultimate Racing Game
Launched in February, Le Mans Ultimate is the official game of the FIA World Endurance Championship. For BMW fans, the game is about to become more relevant with the addition of the M Hybrid V8. It’ll be available as a free DLC from June 10, just days before the actual 24 Hours of Le Mans. BMW M Motorsport will be at the real race with two cars but you’ll virtually drive it sooner than that.
2025 BMW M4 GT3 EVO Teased For The Last Time: Video
The 24 Hours of Nürburgring is happening this weekend but BMW M Motorsport can’t wait until then to show off the M4 GT3 EVO. The updated race car will have its first public appearance at the Green Hell, following an online premiere tomorrow, May 28. Ahead of its debut, a final teaser video released on social media eases the wait.
BMW M Boss Talks About the Future of Electric and ICE Models
We had the opportunity to chat with BMW M head honcho Franciscus van Meel and Dirk Haecker, head of BMW M R&D. In our quick talk, we learned a lot about BMW M’s future. We got lots of info on synthetic fuels, the newest technology, and what will (and won’t) be included in high-performing M EVs.
Remember the BMW X5 Le Mans V12?
As the first-generation X5 celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, there’s no better way to commemorate this milestone than by showcasing the most radical iteration of the E53 to the public. Introduced in March 2000, the BMW X5 Le Mans took the center stage at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza. The one-off delighted over 10,000 visitors at Villa Erba on the public day of the event.
MINI John Cooper Works PRO Heading to the 24 Hrs of Nurburgring
The 52nd edition of the 24 Hours Nürburgring, one of the most grueling endurance races in the world, is coming back this week. This iconic racetrack, the longest in the world, spans 25.378 km, combining the treacherous Nordschleife with the demanding Grand Prix circuit. This year’s competition features 130 vehicles across 23 different classes, with over 450 drivers. One of the teams is Bulldog Racing which will race a couple of MINI John Cooper Works models.
BMW M3 CS Launched In Brazil More Than A Year After Debut
The M4 CS may be the talk of the M Town these days but its sedan counterpart is only now making its debut in Brazil. Even though BMW unveiled the M3 CS back in January 2023, enthusiasts from the South American country had to wait for the four-door rocket for nearly a year and a half. Now that it’s finally here, you’d better act fast because only 17 cars are available.
2025 BMW i4 Dravit Grey Shows Up At The BMW Welt
It’s been about a month since the 2025 BMW i4 was officially introduced with changes inside and out. The electric 4 Series Gran Coupe has now arrived at the BMW Welt in Munich with an Individual paint job and freshly designed wheels. Dressed to impress in Dravit Grey, this xDrive40 model rides on 19-inch alloys that debuted with the facelifted model.
BMW R20 Concept: Neon Pink Inspired by the Iconic Pirelli Calendar
Markus Flasch is already shaking up things at BMW Motorrad. The former BMW M CEO joined the company last year and he has already axed or delayed a few projects. But a new one was born already under his reign. The BMW R20 Concept was introduced at the 2024 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este and it has stunned the audience with its design and bold color choice.
BMW Design Chief: “Skytop Could Be Ready Within a Year, Only 50 Units”
Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is a regular stage for exciting and thought-provoking BMW Concept cars, and this year is no different. For 2024, we get an exciting roadster concept: the BMW Concept Skytop. Though unrelated, it’s an interesting follow-up to last year’s Z4 Concept Touring Coupe – which came close to making it into production. We were fortunate enough to talk a bit to the man behind the Skytop’s inspiring design. Who else but Adrian van Hooydonk? We gleaned insight into potential pricing for the Skytop, the differences between Concept and Vision cars, and so much more.
Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Wins Trofeo BMW at Concorso d’Eleganza 2024
At the 2024 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300, styled in the 1930s by Figoni as a spider, emerged victorious. The prestigious Trofeo BMW Group – Best of Show was awarded to the proud owner from the HM Collection in Belgium. The accolade was presented by Helmut Käs, Head of BMW Group Classic and President of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, and Wilhelm Schmid, CEO of A. Lange und Söhne. In addition to the stunning trophy, the winner also received a unique 1815 Chronograph in white gold, crafted by A. Lange und Söhne exclusively for the event.
This Is How You Put The Targa Roof On The BMW Skytop
You’ve seen images of the Skytop with the roof up and down, but how does the concept morph from a coupe to a convertible? BMW kindly allowed us to transform the one-off into a targa-topped stunner. By deleting the rear seats of the 8 Series Convertible, the engineers were able to make the cargo compartment much larger. It’s now big enough to store the two panels when you want unlimited headroom.
BMW R20 Flaunts Huge 2.0-Liter Boxer Engine At Villa d’Este
The BMW Group isn’t all about cars this weekend at the 2024 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. The Skytop, M4 CS, and Cullinan are joined by an equally interesting two-wheeled product. Motorrad is attending the event at Lake Como in Italy to show the spectacular R20. It’s a one-off project equipped with a large 2.0-liter boxer engine.
Rolls-Royce Cullinan Facelift Makes Public Debut At Villa d’Este
Rolls-Royce’s equivalent of a Life Cycle Impulse is the Series II. The Cullinan received its mid-cycle facelift earlier this month and now it’s making its first public appearance. We shot the ultra-premium SUV this weekend in Italy at the 2024 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. The world’s fanciest luxobarge shows its striking front fascia in live images from Lake Como.
