New MINI John Cooper Works With Gas Engine: First Official Look
MINI’s lineup renewal continues with a performance model we’ve been waiting for since the new 3-Door Hatch came out in February. The F66 with gasoline engines currently tops out with the Cooper S but a John Cooper Works arrives this fall. In the meantime, the JCW is being officially previewed in images of a camouflaged hot hatch.
Design, Future MINI Products, and More: Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design
The MINI brand is getting an exciting new lineup in the next year or so. It was timely, then, that we got the opportunity to chat with Oliver Heilmer, Head of MINI Design. We learned a little bit about the design behind the new MINI Electric and why the gas-powered and electrified versions of the same car are just slightly different. We also gained some insight into future MINI products.
BMW Needs 36 Million Parts From Suppliers Each Day
The BMW Group is an automotive juggernaut as it operates more than 30 factories across the world. In 2023, a whopping 2,661,922 cars were built for the BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce brands. The volume represents an increase of 11.7% compared to the year before. The plant in Dadong, China was the most fruitful after pumping out 420,586 cars, ahead of Spartanburg (USA) with 410,793 vehicles.
BMW Remains Committed To Direct Sales In Europe From 2026
BMW was among the first automakers to (temporarily) adopt direct sales. It happened in the first half of the 2010s when the i3 and i8 hit the market. Also known as the agency model, it effectively turns an automaker into a retailer that sells cars at a fixed price. The dealer is still involved in the process and earns a commission for finalizing the transaction. The German luxury brand abandoned this strategy, but it’s coming back soon.
BMW Neue Klasse SUV Production Start Confirmed For Late 2025
The Vision Neue Klasse concepts represent the dawn of a new electric era for BMW. Although the sedan debuted before the SUV, it’s the iX3 successor that will go into production first. Having confirmed that the inaugural Neue Klasse model will arrive in 2025, the German luxury brand is now providing a more specific timeframe. Speaking during the General Annual Meeting this week, CEO Oliver Zipse said production will start near the end of 2025.
See The BMW i5 M60 Touring In Fire Red From Every Angle
BMW has expanded its crossover lineup to include more than 10 models if we add those only sold in China. However, the SUV boom hasn’t been done at the expense of wagons since the Touring is alive and well. Not only is the 3 Series sticking around with a long roof but there’s now a new 5 Series estate. The German brand has even given the G61 the M Performance treatment with an electric twist.
BWM M4 GT3 EVO And M4 GT4 EVO Race Cars Debut On May 29
We’ve already seen the new M4 CS this month, but there’s so much more to come in May from your favorite brand. BMW has announced a pair of race cars will premiere on May 29 as the M4 GT3 EVO and M4 GT4 EVO. The dynamic duo is going to break cover at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Before that happens, BMW M Motorsport’s flagship model – the M Hybrid V8 – will be dressed up by Julie Mehretu as the #20th official Art Car on May 21.
BMW Motorrad Teases Special Bike For Villa d’Este Debut
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este is happening next week, and there will be a lot to see from the BMW Group. Not only will we see the M Hybrid V8 as the #20 Art Car, but also a mysterious BMW. The Motorrad division is attending the event on the shores of Lake Como to display a new bike. For now, this shadowy teaser image will have to make do.
This BMW i5 M60 Touring Has More Than 10 M Performance Parts
In case you’ve been wondering what a fully loaded 5 Series Touring looks like, this is pretty much it. This money-is-no-object G61 is an i5 M60 decked out with M Performance Parts. Someone at BMW went to town while configuring the electric performance wagon, which is expensive to begin with. In Germany, the base long-roof i5 M60 starts at a pricey €101,500.
Here’s A Close Look At The 2025 BMW M5 Still Wearing Camo
You know the world premiere of the new M5 is right around the corner when BMW invites members of the media to check it out. Granted, the sports sedan is still camouflaged, but the M division is starting to peel off the disguise. We had the opportunity to get up close with the G90 this week in Austria at the Salzburgring.
BMW Thinks 20% Of 5 Series Sales In Europe Will Be The PHEV
The BMW Group held its Annual General Meeting earlier this week when CEO Oliver Zipse had some news to share. In case you haven’t heard, the conglomerate is sticking with its goal of having EVs account for half of sales by 2030. Meanwhile, it’s launching 14 new cars or variants by the end of 2024. The head honcho also promised Neue Klasse EVs will deliver 186 miles (300 kilometers) of range after a 10-minute charge.
BMW 3 Series E30 With Turbo M50 Engine Is Ludicrously Fast
This BMW 3 Series E30 is the textbook definition of a sleeper. It may look fairly stock on the outside, but it’s hiding a juicy secret underneath the hood. Gone is the original engine since it’s now rocking an M50. Not just any version of the six-cylinder unit, but a turbocharged version. In addition, displacement has been bumped to 3 liters.
2025 BMW M440i Convertible Stars In Walkaround Video
BMW kicked off a busy 2024 by introducing a mild Life Cycle Impulse for the 4 Series Coupe and Convertible. The M4 models followed shortly before the 4 Series Gran Coupe and i4 got the LCI treatment. Rounding off the family portrait is the new M4 CS as the range-topper. With reports indicating the 4er won’t be renewed, it would seem the clock is ticking.
BMW M2 G87 With Satin Silver Wrap Looks Immaculate
With BMW only offering seven colors for the G87, it’s no wonder owners are looking for greater customization. The German car wrap specialists at SchwabenFolia recently worked on a Sapphire Black car by giving it a significant makeover. This rear-wheel-drive sports coupe now boasts an eye-catching satin silver exterior.
BMW X3 M Sport Shadow Edition Is A Last Hurrah For The G01
BMW is weeks away from introducing the next-generation X3, but it still has time for one final special edition of the G01 generation. Launched in India, the M Sport Shadow Edition is based on the xDrive20d with the M Sport Package and laser headlights. As the name suggests, it has an assortment of black accents, including a dark kidney grille.
2025 BMW M4 Is Seriously Quick In Acceleration Test
The new M4 CS isn’t the quickest-accelerating production BMW ever, but it’s not much slower either. With a sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in as little as 3.4 seconds, it’s just as quick as the old M5. Only the M5 Competition, M5 CS, and the M8 beat it in a straight line. The super sedans do the job in 3.3 seconds and 3 seconds flat, respectively. The large coupe is a touch slower than the four-door rockets, at 3.2 seconds. Of course, these are all official times, but some drivers have managed to beat BMW’s numbers.
BMW Boss Says New MINI 3-Door Is Sold Out For 4 Months
The new MINI Cooper (F66) debuted about three months ago and is turning out to be an instant hit. Speaking during the BMW Group’s Annual General Meeting yesterday, CEO Oliver Zipse said the F66 is sold out for at least the next four months. He went on to say the convertible (F67) will premiere later this year. He didn’t mention the 5-Door hatchback (F65) but it should break cover in 2024 as well.
One Last Look At The Pre-LCI BMW M4 With M Performance Parts
With the M4 LCI finally out and about, it’s time to say goodbye to the pre-facelift G82. The previous iteration of the Bavarian performance coupe is going out with a bang. This Competition model wears a striking Fire Orange paint job from the Individual catalog. It has also been decked out with carbon fiber goodies from the M Performance Parts catalog.
The New BMW M4 CS Looks Menacing In Black
BMW has been promoting the new M4 CS in Frozen Isle of Man Green and Riviera Blue. If you’re finding those Individual colors too flashy, you can’t go wrong with this Sapphire Black. New images show the spicy G82 on track while looking absolutely menacing since the forged wheels also have a black matte finish.
Manhart Replaces V12 From BMW 8 Series E31 With Stronger V8
The styling, technology, and V12 engine are the three main factors that made the original BMW 8 Series hugely desirable. While the E31’s design is timeless and the tech is outdated by 2024 standards, the twelve-cylinder engine is largely gone. Not just generally speaking, but also in the case of this stunning coupe modified by Manhart.
