Police were called to the home at around 11:15 p.m. Wednesday. Reports state dispatch informed officers the homeowner was chasing a male suspect who gained entry to the house through the back door and later ran out the front upon discovery.

The homeowner told police he was in an upstairs bedroom when he heard what sounded like something falling on the lower floor. He then heard fumbling at the door and went to investigate, at which point he discovered that his front door — which he said he was certain he had locked earlier — was open. Police noted it appeared a pry bar was used to force open the back door, where the suspect gained entry to the home.

The man told police he never actually saw the would-be burglar, reports state, and that the incident was quick. No items were reported as missing.

Reports state the homeowner’s car was ransacked but nothing appeared to be missing from there, either.
