    Weekend OVI checkpoint results in

    BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — The results are in for the two OVI checkpoints held in Boardman ahead of the Fourth of July holiday.

    The first checkpoint ran from 10 p.m. until midnight on South Avenue near Midlothian Boulevard. The second checkpoint ran from 12:30-3 a.m. on U.S. 224 at Marinthana Avenue.

    The task force reported that a total of 334 vehicles passed through the checkpoint and 14 were diverted for further investigation.

    The following charges and citations were reported:

    • 4 OVI arrests
    • 2 driving under suspension citations
    • 1 summons from no operator’s license
    • 1 summons for underage possession of marijuana
    • 1 summons for underage consumption of alcohol
    • 2 summons for drug paraphernalia
    • 2 citations for traffic control device
    • 1 citation for red light

    “It is our hope that people make good decisions and choose not to engage in impaired driving,” the task force said in a statement.

    The Mahoning County OVI Task Force is funded by a federal grant, which is administered through the Ohio Department of Public Safety.
