BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — The Ohio tax-free holiday is coming up, meaning it would be a good time to get school supplies and some extras.

Continuing Healthcare of Boardman has started a school supply collection drive. It will accept new school supplies, even bookbags and lunch boxes — any of the items which a student will use in class.

The supplies will be handed out in mid-August for any teacher or student who needs them for school.

“When you don’t have the right supplies, you’re not getting the correct education,” said Cassie Martino, director of admissions with Continuing Healthcare of Boardman. “Unfortunately, teachers can’t always supply those supplies — and parents, you know, they work hard. We just want to make sure that their students can get everything that they need.”

Donated supplies will be accepted through Aug. 14. Students, parents or teachers can pick up supplies Aug. 17, where organizers say free food will be provided. It’s all being done at Continuing Healthcare of Boardman, which is at 830 Boardman-Canfield Road.

A complete list of accepted supplies include:

    • new/like new bookbags and totes
    • pens, pencils, highlighters, markers, crayons, etc.
    • white-out and glue
    • new packs of paper
    • binders, folders, notebooks, planners
    • notecards
    • rulers, pencil pouches, calculators
    • erasers
    • pencil sharpeners
    • safety scissors
    • hand sanitizer
    • tissue boxes
    • lunch boxes
    • disinfecting wipes
    • construction paper
    • craft supplies
