BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — Police investigating a report of a man with a gun determined that an inmate at the Trumbull County Jail had been making false reports, according to a police report.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Monday, dispatch received a “frantic” call that a man with a gun was at a home in the 500 block of E. Western Reserve Road. When police officers arrived, they were met by a woman who reported that there was no issue there, and she said she had been arguing with a man on the phone prior to the emergency call and that she hung up on him, the report stated.

Police then determined that the call came from that man, who is incarcerated at the Trumbull County Jail. According to the report, dispatch received similar calls in the past involving other false reports at the same home.

The report redacts the name of the suspect but says investigators notified staff at the Trumbull County Jail that the inmate had been calling in false alarms.
