Demolition of Punta Gorda hotel structures continues next month
Interior demolition work began earlier in the month at the Punta Gorda Waterfront Hotel and Hurricane Charley’s Sushi, Raw Bar & Grill, and structural demolition is expected to begin next month, attorney Derek Rooney said. He represents Amer Asmar, whose company Punta Gorda AA Hotel LLC owns both the hotel at 300 W. Retta Esplanade and the adjoining restaurant structure.
Englewood Performing Arts Series Announces New Season
Englewood Performing Arts Series (EPAS) has announced the dates and performers for their upcoming season. If you enjoy EPAS concerts, save these Friday evening dates now. Friday, November 15, 7pm: “Dancing with the Celts”. Come experience this toe-tapping Celtic style blending Irish, Scottish and American Roots, with electrifying dance and enchanting storytelling. Friday, December 6, 7pm: “Round the Christmas Tree”. Familiar Christmas tunes will be heard using authentic 19th century musical scores from early theater and silent cinema by the Paragon Ragtime Orchestra. Friday, January 17, 7pm: “Hotel California”. This is the original tribute Eagles band which has been performing Eagles’ hits for over three decades. Friday, February 14, 7pm: “Tommy Dorsey Orchestra”. Tommy Dorsey was known as “The Sentimental Gentleman of Swing” and considered the master of creating warm & sentimental moods during the Big Band era. Friday, March 7, 7pm: “John Jorgenson Quintet”. John Jorgenson, a former guitarist with “Desert Rose”, brings a unique 21st century world music combo with strong flavors of Gypsy Jazz. Friday, March 21, 7pm: “DSB Journey Tribute Band”. DSB brings a high energy stage production and accurate recreations of “Journey” classics. Season Passes will go on sale Thursday, August 1st, followed by individual concert ticket sales on Sunday, September 1st. EPAS also announced that they have created another tier for ticketing and reserved seats this year.
