Local restaurants earn ‘A’ ratings, one earns ‘C’ rating

BOGUE CHITTO  — Mississippi Department of Health inspected nine local restaurants this week. Of the nine restaurants, six earned “A” ratings, two earned “B” ratings and one earned a “C” rating.

Bogue Chitto Boys, located at 2229 US51 SE, earned a “C” rating for the first time since opening in 2018, snapping a streak of six “A” ratings. According to Department of Health records, the inspection marked the sewage waste water was not property disposed of. The issue was marked as corrected on site.

According to the Mississippi Department of Health, any establishment earning a “C” rating must be re-inspected with all violations corrected within 10 days.

Dairy Queen, located at 1003 Brookway Boulevard, earned a “B” rating snapping a streak of six “A” ratings since 2019. The “B” rating was marked as a corrective follow-up.

The C-Store at 714 East Monticello Street in Brookhaven earned a “B” rating. The rating snapped a streak of two straight “A” ratings.

Bowie Bar-B-Que, located at 333 Magee Drive, earned an “A” rating for the third straight time since 2023.

Bob’s Sandwich Shop, located at 208 East Cherokee Street, earned an “A” rating for the ninth straight time since 2016.

Huey Magoos earned an “A” rating for the third straight time since opening in 2023. The chicken restaurant is located at 110 US51 NE in Brookhaven.

K&B Seafood, located at 526 US51 South in Brookhaven, earned an “A” rating for the third straight time since moving to the new location in 2023.

Bob’s Sandwich Shop on the Boulevard earned an “A” rating for the third straight time since 2023. The food truck is located at 101 US51 Unit 49 in Brookhaven, or look for the Blue Sky at the intersection of US51 and Brookway Boulevard.

Kayden Kumar’s A One Stop #11 earned an “A” rating for the third straight time since 2023. The gas station is located at 806 US51 North.

Mississippi Department of Health publishes restaurant inspections in an online database. Customers are also able to report potential violations to the department of health.
