Kenneth Cerini leads Bohemia-based Cerini & Associates, a full-service accounting firm that he founded 30 years ago from his garage. The firm now has more than 75 people, including seven partners, and serves clients across the nonprofit, construction, healthcare, technology, education, financial services and other sectors.

As the executive responsible for the firm’s nonprofit and educational provider practice groups, Cerini applies extensive experience providing audit and value-added consulting services for nonprofits and educational facilities of all sizes throughout New York State. He takes a holistic approach to servicing his clients, focusing on fiscal, operational and compliance-related matters, and he believes in educating his clients, staff and the industries he serves.

Cerini is an accomplished writer, editor and speaker. He is the editor for two of the seven newsletters published by the firm, including “The Report Card,” written for private schools, and “The Special ED-ition,” published for special education providers. He also hosts monthly webinars addressing important issues for all industries, yearly training for nonprofit boards and an annual nonprofit conference. Every January, he gets input from industry professionals to create a nonprofit trend guide, helping nonprofits navigate the upcoming year.

Cerini founded both the Long Island and New York City Imagine Awards, which aim to showcase the nonprofit sector and promote collaboration within the industry. In the last 12 years, the Imagine Awards have raised thousands of dollars for deserving organizations.

An avid hiker and climber, Cerini also raises money for the nonprofit sector through his “Cerini Challenge” outdoor adventures.
