A national board will be getting a local addition.

Douglas Hackler Sr., the president and CEO of Boise-based American Semiconductor , was recently appointed to serve on the U.S. Small Business Administration ’s Regulatory Fairness Board.

“Small businesses are the leading edge of our economy, the nucleus for new technology concepts and the most challenging endeavors to make successful,” Hackler said. “My hope and goal is that by serving the small business community and SBA, I’ll assist small businesses and manufacturers in meeting their challenges.”

Hackler was appointed by SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman.

According to the SBA, the CEO has a “proven track record” of assembling and managing teams in engineering, operations, marketing and management. Along with being the company’s CEO, Hackler is also a co-founder of American Semiconductor, which was established in 2001, specializing in the development and production of thin substrates, integrated circuit packaging and chip-on-flex assembly. He has been the principal investigator on many projects resulting in multiple patents and patents pending.

The Regulatory Fairness Board advises the SBA in regard to federal regulatory concerns to small businesses, making such matters known to the organization’s Office of Ombudsman.

“Doug’s experiences with federal agencies and regulations will bring valuable first-hand perspectives to the Regulatory Fairness Board,” said Beto Yarce, regional administrator for SBA’s Region 10, which oversees the Pacific Northwest region. “This appointment builds upon Doug’s strong advocacy both for small businesses and his industry, which will help in his service to other small businesspeople dealing with regulatory challenges.”
