Better Know a B1G: Breakout Boilermaker
Some of the entries in the Better Know a B1G series practically write themselves. The topics are either so interesting or left such an impression on me that I already know what I want to discuss as soon as I see who is next on the alphabetical list. Purdue is not one of those entries. The Boilermakers aren’t exactly a bad B1G program. They have been in the conference dating back to the 19th century and have had various runs of success. They’re a huge public university with lots of fans and a big stadium. For the most part, their down years put them more toward the bottom third of the conference than the absolute cellar, and they don’t stay there for long stretches.
This Week at the Purdue Student Farm
This week’s biggest event has been the lauded, long-awaited debut of the Bin Washer! It has been named Squeaky Steve :). We’ve been watching vegetables go through it like it’s popcorn in a microwave, and I can confirm that carrots can reach entertaining heights. It’s even got a power washer!!! It almost covers up the sound of Mason and Faith bickering.
45 Days to Purdue Football - Devin Mockobee
This is a guy that needs very little introduction. He has one of the great stories of college football. He originally committed to Navy before deciding to come to Purdue as a walk-on and exploding onto the scene during his freshman season. One of the first things that Ryan Walters did once he came to Purdue, if not his first official act, was to award Mockobee with a scholarship. We all remember that video. It was a great moment.

“Paws Up” – brought to you by the PVM Wellness Committee
This week we’d like to give a big high-five to Heather Johnson, who is the schedule deputy and testing coordinator in Purdue Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Veterinary Administration. After Heather transitioned to the College of Veterinary Medicine, a fellow staff member stated, “Heather came into the position of schedule deputy and testing coordinator a few months ago, and took that role and ran with it! She works so hard to make learning better for the students in any way possible.” The nominator went on to praise Heather for also willingly and gladly taking on responsibility for the college’s Food Pantry after the staff member who had been managing it left. “I appreciate her excitement to keep the Food Pantry going strong. Heather is a very joy-filled person, who is always striving to better herself, the team she is working with and the college. She is always a strong supporter for what is best for the students and is willing to take on anything to help out her team. Thank you, Heather, for being a positive, outgoing and uplifting person. Purdue Basketball Ends Big Ten's 14-Team Era with Most Wins
Now that the 14-team era is officially over for the Big Ten, we can anoint Purdue as the best men's basketball team of the 10-year stretch. That's not an opinion, either. During the conference's 14-team era (2014-2024), no Big Ten basketball team had more wins than Matt Painter's Boilermakers. Purdue ended with a 137-54 record, which equates to a .717 winning percentage over the 10-year period.
