The Virginia Department of Education will host eight “Commonwealth Conversations” with parents, educators and community members on cellphone-free education. This comes after Gov. Youngkin issued an executive order last week directing the Department of Education to draft guidance for public school divisions to adopt local policies and procedures establishing a “cellphone-free education” in Virginia. The executive order mandates Virginia public school divisions establish a cellphone-free education by Jan. 1 of next year.

McClellan presents $1.66M check to YWCA of Richmond to help domestic violence survivors
Earlier this week, U.S. Congresswoman Jennifer McClellan (D-VA-4th District) presented a check for $1.66 million to the YWCA of Richmond. The money will help the organization’s “Transforming Lives After Surviving Domestic Violence Project” build at least 40 new homes and offer 24/7 services for survivors of domestic violence.
