Nashville Detective Wounded, Murder Suspect Shot as Arrest Attempt Erupts into Gunfire in Madison
Source: Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Tennessee. A confrontation in a Madison apartment complex parking lot escalated to gunfire yesterday as a Nashville detective was wounded while serving a first-degree murder indictment, according to a report by the Nashville Police Department. Detective Carlos Diaz, a recent transfer from the New York Police Department, sustained a non-life-threatening injury to his leg when homicide suspect Miqueal Williams resisted arrest and opened fire. Williams, wanted for the murder of Samuel Edwards Jr. in March, was also shot in the hip during the altercation and both he and Diaz are being treated at Skyline Medical Center.

The Franklin Theatre will host a concert fundraiser benefiting the continued restoration of the Nolensville's historic Morton-Brittain House on Aug. 12. Metro Council to consider bill disallowing Nashville police officers from associating with hate groups
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A Metro Council member is sponsoring a resolution that would prevent police officers from joining or associating with hate groups. The resolution was originally supposed to be discussed during Tuesday night’s meeting, however, it was tabled until September, so more work could be put toward the wording.
Nordstrom Rack to Hold Hiring Event in Brentwood
Nordstrom Rack announced earlier this year that a second location would open at Cool Springs Market, 2000 Mallory Lane, next to Joann’s in the former Buy Buy Baby location. Amy Matthews slaps husband after he catches her cheating
31-year-old Amy Matthews was involved in a domestic altercation with her husband, Alex Matthews, at her Cindy Jo Court residence on June 29th. When officers arrived, they spoke with Alex, who claimed an argument occurred because he found out Amy was talking to another man. Alex informed officers that, after this, they both began arguing before it turned physical when Amy attempted to grab Alex’s phone. Amy proceeded to slap Alex multiple times on the leg while yelling, “he hit me.” Alex provided officers with footage of the incident that he recorded. Amy Matthews was then deemed the primary aggressor, and she was then taken into custody for domestic assault on July 3rd.
