ASHWAUBENON, Wis. – The Green Bay Rockers (7-8) defeated the Lakeshore Chinooks (6-8) 5-4 in a defensive duel. The Rockers wasted no time getting out front. With the first two runners on base, Jake Bold (Princeton) scored Lukas Torres (Wagner) on a fielder’s choice ground out. The very next batter, Sam Miller (Columbia) crushed a home run to put Green Bay up 3-0 after one. However, the Chinooks managed to tie the game in the top of the second.
Late rally continues winning streak for Rockers
The Green Bay Rockers answer every challenge from the Lakeshore Chinooks late to salvage a 5-4 win Thursday night. A RBI groundout and two-run homer from Sam Miller made it 3-0 only to have the Chinooks tie it up in the top of the second inning. It would stay that way until the seventh inning when Jake Bold singled in Lukas Torres to make it 4-3. Once again, the Chinooks would tie the game in the top of the next inning when a double brought home the son of Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell Brady Counsell to make it 4-4. An RBI groundout in the bottom of the eighth would give the Rockers their third straight win.
