Iowa Teen Caught Going Over 120 mph On a Suspended License
An Iowa teenager landed in the hottest of waters after being caught going well over 100 mph near Ottumwa. The kicker? He was driving on a suspended license. The Iowa State Patrol are hoping this serves as a reminder for parents to talk to their children who are just starting to drive or are actively learning the Rules of the Road about the dangers of excessive speed.
Warren County Economic Development Hosts Video on Understanding Property Tax
The City of Indianola, City of Norwalk, Warren County, and Warren County Economic Development partnered for a discussion on understanding property taxes last week. The video features information regarding the property tax statement sent out to property owners, where tax dollars are being used, and for what purpose. Warren County Economic Development also provided an informational sheet residents can view.
Indianola Chamber Summer Nights Live Tonight on Downtown Square
Tonight is the second Indianola Chamber of Commerce Summer Nights Live event on the downtown Indianola square. The Chuggaluggers Band will open for Trainwreck, and Chamber President and CEO Amanda Zwanziger tells KNIA News the opening act plays at the special VIP Back Alley events for sponsors and attendees who purchased a ticket, while the Summer Nights Live event includes food and drink specials from restaurants and food trucks, local deals from downtown businesses, and more. Newton Library Director Addressing Staffing in Annual Report to City Council

ICYF Trunk or Treat Announced for October
The fourth annual Indianola Community Youth Foundation Trunk or Treat has been announced for later this fall, offering a chance for kids and families to visit with Indianola businesses and organizations safely. Executive Director Taylor Litchkey tells KNIA News those attending are asked to bring canned food or personal hygiene items to donate to the Helping Hand of Warren County. The Trunk or Treat will take place October 19th at the Indianola Stadium Parking Lot from 6-8pm. ICYF is currently accepting entries for the event, find registration information below.

2nd Annual Road Trip to Honor Memory of Harley McDonald
The public is invited to celebrate the memory of a Greene County teen with a fundraiser. The 2nd Annual Road Trip in Memory of Harley McDonald takes place tomorrow at the Scranton Community Center. Registrations for the ride are from 9-11am with a $20 fee. The route for the ride can be found below, but it starts and ends at the Scranton Community Center. Nina McDonald says at noon the beer garden opens, followed by the 515 Cornhole Tournament at 2pm. Dinner is then served at 6pm, along with a variety of raffles at 7pm and a live auction at 7:15pm. The event wraps up with live musical entertainment at 8pm with Dirt Road Divide.

Crews complete repair of ruptured gas line on east side of Des Moines
DES MOINES, Iowa — MidAmerican Energy crews were on the scene Friday night of a ruptured natural gas line on the east side of Des Moines. At around 6:45 p.m., police said all lanes of East University Avenue between East 9th Street and East 12th Street were temporarily closed while Des Moines fire and repair crews worked in the area.
