Missoula Police Bust Habitual Traffic Offender for a 6th DUI
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 13, 2024, at approximately 3:35 PM, a Missoula Police Department officer located a suspected impaired driving vehicle that was reported to 911. He initiated his emergency lights and the vehicle yielded in the mall parking lot near Dillards. The officer approached the vehicle and observed two occupants inside. The female in the driver's seat would be positively identified by Montana Driver's License as 48-year-old Candice Hanks.

Midweek heat elevates wildfire risk
The scattering of small fires on Monday night might get some more siblings as a thunderstorm system moves across much of northwest Montana Wednesday. The developing weather pattern may also prompt NorthWestern Energy to activate its new Public Safety Power Shutoff policy. The power utility announced it was in “monitoring” stage on Tuesday, opening a 72-hour window of notice that it may turn off electrical service if fire conditions warrant. NWE’s strategy moves through monitoring, watch, warning, and alert – the stage where a power outage is scheduled for a specific area.
Billings Clinic debuts new mobile oxygenation system
Billings Clinic earlier this month transported its first patient using its new mobile extracorporeal membrane oxygenation system. The Clinic, along with Community Medical Center, announced earlier this year it was creating the mobile ECMO program and that it would be the first in the state. The patient who was transported with it initially arrived at Community Medical Center in Missoula with severe respiratory failure early in July.
