Those who visit Allan Yorke Park in Bonney Lake will notice something new July 10.

Visitors must pay to park at 7203 W. Tapps Hwy. E. using ParkMobile’s app, website or through text. The app is available on iOS or Android. The website is parkmobile.io . Visitors can text “PARK” to 77223 to start a parking session.

It costs $4 for four hours or $10 per day plus fees and taxes. Parking is free during city-sponsored events. Those who do not pay are subject to a $250 fine. Paid parking is in effect from May 1 through Oct. 1, according to the city’s website .

There are no refunds or in/out privileges, according to the website. Visitors cannot reserve parking spots in advance. Visitors must correctly enter their license plate on the app, website or text to avoid a citation.

The park has about 280 spaces.

Leslie Harris, assistant to the city administrator, told The News Tribune that this is the first time the city implemented a paid-parking system at Allan Yorke. It will help with crowd control and ensure all park users contribute to maintaining the park, she said.

“All the revenue that comes in from paid parking will go back to city parks,” Harris said.

The park usually gets a lot of visitors on hot-weather days, she said.

When asked how many visit the park on a weekly or monthly basis, Harris did not have an estimate. However, she said city-sponsored events typically get between 1,000 to 2,000 attendees.
