Ski Hill to celebrate end of summer, raise money for ADA restroom facility
LEAVENWORTH – Leavenworth Winter Sports Club (LWSC) is celebrating the end of summer with its third Loos 4 the Lodge event on Sept. 7, from 3:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Ski Hill Lodge’s ADA Restroom Facility Project, which will offer accessibility, larger capacity during busy events, and covered outdoor patio space. LWSC hopes to raise at least $30,000 at the event.

I spoke in April, on the announcement of ShotSpotter technology coming to Tacoma, about the concerns I had regarding its implementation (view the video here, my comments start at the 2:15 mark). Like community, I had many questions about how this technology would work and how the Tacoma Police Department could implement it. Some of my top concerns were the budgetary and staffing impacts this technology may create or exacerbate, as well as any unintended consequences of over-policing in certain neighborhoods and data security.
