BREAKING: Wildfire evacuation ordered for Argenta and Johnsons Landing
Residents of Argenta and Johnsons Landing have been ordered to evacuate due to the threat of the Argenta Creek wildfire. The Regional District of Central Kootenay announced the evacuation order at 12:20 a.m. on July 25 following a recommendation from BC Wildfire Service. It includes the communities of Argenta and Johnsons Landing as well as nearby rural areas in Electoral Area H.

Illinois Man Arrested for Allegedly Abusing North Carolina Teen
Green Oaks, IL – A 15-year-old girl from North Carolina was rescued from a Green Oaks residence, where she was allegedly held and abused. According to the United States Marshals Service, the missing girl was found on Prairie Ridge Road after an investigation with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. On July 24, detectives obtained a search warrant and apprehended Andrew W. Szech, 43, who was seen leaving the home with the victim.
