    Man drowns while fishing in Big Coal River

    BOONE COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – A tragic incident took place on Saturday after State Police say a man drowned while fishing in the Big Coal River.

    On June 29, 2024, Senior Trooper M.R. Miller, Trooper M.S. Hall, and Trooper R.K. Bowers were dispatched to Peytona Costa Road in the Peytona area of Boone County, WV, following a report of a potential drowning.

    Upon reaching the scene, the team found the victim to be 64-year-old Timmy J. Hager of Peytona, WV. Sadly, Mr. Hager was discovered deceased, and it appeared to be a tragic accident while he was fishing in the Big Coal River.

    No evidence of foul play was identified, and the investigation into this incident is ongoing.
