Wisconsin fugitive wanted for 30 years arrested in West Des Moines
WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (KCCI) — A fugitive wanted for three decades out of Wisconsin was captured in West Des Moines last week. West Des Moines Police arrested George Hartleroad on June 26. He was homeless and living near the Valley Junction area. Court records show officers stopped him for having no rear reflector on his bicycle.
Iowa Hereford Breeders to Dedicate Barn Quilt
In a ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 14, the Iowa Hereford Breeders Association (IHBA) will dedicate a custom-created barn quilt given in memory of three longtime Iowa Hereford breeders. The event will take place at 3 p.m. on the west side of the Gammon Barn on the Iowa State Fairgrounds, followed by an ice cream social in the Sheri Avis Horner Pavilion just north of the barn museum.
Hotzler, horse among nation’s best
Sadie Hotzler finished as reserve champion in pole bending at the National Junior High Finals Rodeo last weekend in Des Moines, Iowa, and her horse received top honor. Hotzler finished second in pole bending with an aggregate time of 60.477 seconds. That put her just behind champion Taytum Anderson of Eagle Mountain, Utah.

There is an opportunity in Jefferson for adults who are looking to get their high school diploma. The Greene County Career Academy has several classes for individuals to earn their High School Equivalency Diploma for free. The next orientation is scheduled for Monday at 4pm at the Career Academy. The classes will be held Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-6pm and are taught by Iowa Central Community College. Attendees are asked to use the north parking lot and enter through door N5.
