Summit proposes August and September meetings for pipeline extensions
Summit Carbon Solutions has proposed new public informational meeting dates for 23 counties that would span about four weeks. The company that recently gained approval from state regulators for its carbon dioxide pipeline system in Iowa wants to proceed with expansion requests for that system starting in late August.

Iowa’s ag secretary comments on Deere’s latest job cuts
(Radio Iowa) – Ag equipment maker John Deere is announcing plans to eliminate some 800 jobs at plants in Iowa and Illinois over the coming weeks. It follows word last month the company would shift production of its skid steer loaders and compact track loaders from Dubuque to Mexico by the end of 2026. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is reacting to the news. “Anytime that you’re hearing about roll backs, layoffs, moving things outside of the state of Iowa or the United States,” Naig says, “you’re concerned about those things, you want to understand them.”

In the most recent U.S. News & World Report, the University of Iowa fell 45 spots in Best Global Universities Rankings, while Iowa State University's ranking dropped 81 spots. The University of Iowa ranked 180th in last year's list, but fell to 225th in 2024. Iowa State University was ranked 263rd in 2023 and is now ranked 344th.

DCG Teams Play At Home Tonight
Dallas Center – Grimes baseball and softball will be back at home tonight with intriguing non conference games for both schools, with the boys to play against Ankeny and the girls to take on Carlisle. DCG girls are 29-5 while Carlisle is 26-8 on the season. The softball program is number 2 in 4A as of the late June poll. The boys are 31-2 on the season and are currently in the top 3 of the 4A poll. DCG girls.
Chargers Softball Splits Games with Des Moines Christian
The AC/GC Chargers softball team was in action Monday, and split their games against the Des Moines Christian Lions. The team took the first game 13-6, with an early lead. The Lions picked up two runs, while the Chargers tacked on eight in the first inning. AC/GC then put up another run in the second inning to go up 9-2, and both teams were scoreless in the next two innings. The Chargers picked up three more runs in the fifth, and allowed one, then tallied their final run in the sixth inning while allowing two runs for the Lions. Des Moines Christian recorded their final run in the seventh inning.

The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday evening, reviewing a housing study in the city that took place over the course of several months. Wildcat softball claims ten point victory in final regular season game
The Wildcat softball team ends the season at 15-16 after defeating the Orient-Macksburg Bulldogs 17-7. Senior Zoey Dickson would wreck havoc in the batters box, notching in four hits with two runs and an incredible four RBIs and a home run in last nights victory over the Bulldogs. West Central Valley center fielder Ella Sand would would have an astonishing night offensively for the Wildcats, going 4-5 with two singles, a double and a triple. Sand would come in to score three times for the Wildcats as she also notched in three RBIs of her own.
