Timberline Teacher Named Iowa P.E. Teacher of the Year
“I’m truly honored and excited to receive this award. It means a lot to be recognized for something I’m so passionate about,” Christensen says. Since 1982, the P.E. Teacher of the Year awards have honored educators for the “contributions that have been made to their profession and the Iowans they teach,” according to the SHAPE website. Christensen is only the second Waukee CSD employee to win the award.

New Iowa THC Law Set To Go In Place Today Regarding Potency Levels
(Des Moines, IA) — A new law in Iowa regulating THC in products takes effect today. The law caps the amount of THC allowed per serving and container. It requires products with THC to be labeled with health risk advisories and prohibits individuals under 21 from purchasing such products. The Department of Health and Human Services will establish rules related to packaging and labeling, with guidelines expected to be finalized after the law takes effect.
DCG Wins Thriller on Senior Night
Dallas Center – Grimes girls softball was on the diamond for senior night in Dallas Center as they honored thirteen seniors across the program, then it was senior Aubrey Johansen who was able to make the big hit as she hit a three run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to complete a six run sixth inning and finish a wild DCG comeback win over Oskaloosa 7-4. The Mustangs move to 29-5 while Oskaloosa falls to 11-19 on the year.

Urbandale wants a downtown that's friendlier to families, bicyclists and pedestrians, has more space for parking, events and local businesses, and that can accommodate breweries and outdoor patios. This new Des Moines art installation aims to serve as a connection to Iowa's rivers
A new interactive art installation is coming to Des Moines in an effort to reconnect Iowans to the rivers that flow through the heart of Iowa. Iowa Confluence (ICON) Water Trails has partnered with Bravo Greater Des Moines, the Polk County Board of Supervisors and Polk County Conservation to make the installation called "Hello, River" possible. The sculpture is a product of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Chargers Fall to Lions in Des Moines
The AC/GC Chargers were on the road last night, as they faced the Des Moines Christian Lions in varsity doubleheader action. In game one for the baseball team, both teams were held scoreless going into the third inning, where the Lions put up 6 runs, then turned around in the fourth to put up 13 runs, and end the game with a 19-0 loss for the Chargers. AC/GC made a better showing in the second game, falling 12-2. The Chargers were scoreless until the third inning, but allowed two runs in the first. The lone run in the third came off the off loaded bases, when senior Andrew Mahaffey was hit by a pitch, and Chase Slaybaugh finished his trip back to home plate.
ADM Softball Defeats Gilbert on Senior Night for 9th Consecutive
The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Softball team beat Gilbert 9-5 on Monday night to win their ninth straight to celebrate Senior night. The Tigers began by honoring five seniors on the team: Kaylee Smith, Cameran Smith, Aubrey Winter, Aleah Johnson, and Olivia Wyant. ADM led 1-0 after the first following a solo home run from Lauren Hagedorn. The Tigers used a big second inning to bring in seven runs to make it 8-0, then tallied one more in the fifth. Gilbert battled back by scoring three in the fourth and two in the fifth innings, as ADM went onto win 9-5. Senior Aleah Johnson reflected on her high school career.
Free outdoor gym planned for Ridge Pointe Park in Waukee
WAUKEE, Iowa — A new gym coming to a Des Moines suburb will be the first of its kind for the state. It will be called The Fitness Court, and it's an outdoor gym being built in Waukee. The goal is to bring free outdoor equipment to communities to encourage healthy movement.
