Columbia's proposed sales tax renewal on August 2024 ballot aims to improve public safety
Columbia — According to Columbia city officials, a renewal of the city sales tax on the August 6th ballot will generate $83 million over the next ten years. During a news conference on Tuesday, Public Works Director Shane Creech, Police Chief Jill Schlude, and Deputy Fire Chief John Ambra reviewed the ramifications of a renewal of the quarter-cent tax that expires at the end of next year.
Mizzou preseason camp begins Sunday
The new college football season will creep one step closer next week when Mizzou kicks off its 2024 preseason camp. Coach Eli Drinkwitz will open the camp with a news conference at 2 p.m. Sunday. The first of 16 practices starts at 11:15 a.m. Monday. The team will have a practice that is open to the public at 7 p.m. Aug. 17.
