Man shot, killed by Catawba County officers while driving toward them
CONOVER, N.C. — A man was shot and killed while attempting to crash into officers with a Catawba County tactics team, the Catawba County Sheriff's Office said on Monday. Officers attempted to arrest Pierre Ramseur around 6 p.m. on Monday in the Elite Comfort Solutions parking lot on Farrington Street SW in Conover. Ramseur was wanted for second-degree kidnapping, robbery, larceny, communicating threats, and injury to personal property, according to the sheriff's office. He was also out on bond for a murder charge.

One break in occurred on June 10, at a restaurant near the 500 block of Brentwood Rd in Denver. The suspect entered through a door after hours and stole an electronic gaming machine. The other break-in occurred on July 10, near the 6000 block of Old Plank Road. In that case the suspects entered the business after hours and stole an ATM machine that had several thousand dollars in cash inside.
New Amazon facility opens in Fayetteville
The giant new Amazon Fulfillment Center near Fort Liberty is starting to show signs of life. The new Amazon facility opened in June in Fayetteville at 6309 Bragg Blvd. The 1.3 million-square-foot-facility located in the Military Business Park was supposed to open in 2023, but a representative from Amazon told WRAL News the delay won't stop the company in its plans to hire 1,000 employees at the site.
