BORDENTOWN CITY, NJ — As PSE&G continues its gas pipe replacement project in Bordentown City that began on June 25, City officials are alerting residents and drivers of road closures that will be occurring this week.

According a post on the City of Bordentown's Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon, the following streets will be impacted this week:

    • Monday, July 22 through Thursday, July 25: East Burlington Street (Crosswicks Street to Hopkinson Street)
    • Friday, July 26 through Monday, July 29: Myrtle Avenue (East Burlington Street to East Union Street)

Road closures will be taking place from 7AM to 5PM, and parking will be restricted as needed.

According to PSE&G, the replacement work is being done to "provide the continued safety and reliability of your gas service" and offers the following information about the project:

    • To upgrade the gas lines, PSE&G digs trenches, primarily in road surfaces, and lays new pipes block-by-block to minimize disruptions. At the end of each workday, the trenches are filled in and protective plates are secured.
    • When possible, workers avoid digging on properties. If workers have to dig on your property, PSE&G/Contractor will restore any disturbance after the service line is installed. Grass areas are repaired and seeded, and concrete or asphalt openings are patched until final restoration work is scheduled.
    • After construction, a PSE&G technician will need access to your home to connect the service line and gas meter to the new gas main. PSE&G contacts homeowners to arrange a date and time to do this work. On the day of your scheduled appointment, technicians will ask you a series of pandemic-related safety questions.
    • During the re-connection, you can expect to be without gas service for about four hours. If your meter is inside, we will move it to the outside of your home or business. A PSE&G technician will reconnect and relight all appliances. If you are not able to legally provide access to the property in question and require landlord approval, please let PSE&G know when they contact you.

The Bordentown City Police Department will post advisories to inform residents and drivers of future project locations throughout Bordentown City.
