EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — Border Patrol agents in El Paso apprehended 21 migrants trying to enter the U.S. illegally using a storm drain, El Paso Sector Chief Anthony “Scott” Good said via social media.

“The dark, hazardous tunnel, filled with unknown dangers, could have cost them their lives,” Good said in his Tweet.

The incident happened on Sunday morning, Oct. 13, along a storm drain near Interstate 10 on the Westside of El Paso.

At about 8:30 a.m., agents observed a storm drain cover was left open. They followed it to an exit point and observed several individuals leaving the drain.

Migrants who were apprehended were from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic.
