    1 woman dead after Saturday home fire in Borger

    BORGER, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Borger Fire Department released details on a house fire on Saturday evening in the 1400 block of Turner that left one woman dead.

    According to officials with the Borger Fire Department, the fire department responded to a home fire at approximately 4:30 p.m. and upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames engulfing a two-story home building at the front entry and carport area.

    Officials stated that firefighters found a woman inside the home and immediately began attempting life-saving measures. However, the woman was declared dead.

    “The Borger Fire Department is grateful for the swift assistance from neighboring fire departments, as well as the support from law enforcement and emergency medical services,” officials with the Borger Fire Department said. “The collaborative efforts of all agencies involved were critical in managing this tragic event. Responding agencies included Borger Fire, Borger Police, Fritch Fire, and Hutchinson County ESU.”

    Officials stated the fire is currently being investigated by the Borger Fire Marshal’s Office with assistance from the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
